Home of Champions Rodeo Poster

Home of Champions Rodeo is a beloved summer event for Red Lodge, a small rural community in Montana. For this project, I looked toward the aspects that attracted people to the rodeo to base my decisions on something that would encourage them to attend. I decided that the opposition and badassery of rodeos were some of the main appeals I could utilize while developing the posters. The final result is two differently styled posters that visualize the previously mentioned themes to promote the rodeo.

Poster 1: Patriotism and Opposition

One of the main aspects of the rodeo I set out to focus on was opposition. I wanted to show the two sides of the fight as if they were currently standing off against each other - one a confident cowboy and the other an intimidating horse. The patriotic colors of red, white, and blue not only bring out the American culture that rodeos are known for - but they also exemplify the contrast between two opposing forces.

Poster 2: Badassery and grunge

What happens when these two opposing forces clash? Badassery ensues. This grunge inspired poster displays the thrilling parts of a rodeo - something that can’t be polished up and neatly packaged. It shows the most exciting and unique parts of the event that you just can’t find anywhere else. It emphasizes the spectacle that people are there to see, ensuring that you’ll have a riveting time at the rodeo.
